Alice Peters Diffely is a Certified Chi Running® and Chi Walking® Master Instructor and Registered Yoga Teacher. A native of Portland and an avid distance runner ever since she competed for Lincoln High School’s cross country and track teams, Alice was a member of Stanford University’s track team during her freshman year of college, until she was sidelined by injuries. She consistently placed in her age group in local road races throughout her 20’s. Competitive highlights include a 3:06 marathon finish as a law school student.
Alice was limited by Achilles tendonitis and plantar fasciitis intermittently throughout much of her 30's. In 2004, she read and began practicing principles from the then-newly released book Chi Running: A Revolutionary Approach To Effortless, Injury-Free Running. Thrilled to finally put those nagging injuries behind her, Alice trained personally with Chi Running® and Chi Walking® creator Danny Dreyer in 2007 to become a certified instructor. Through her business Running Mindfully, Inc., Alice has been sharing the benefits of the techniques with runners and walkers throughout the Portland Metropolitan Area ever since. Having practiced yoga and meditation regularly since the late 1990's, in 2011 Alice completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training with Sarahjoy Marsh at Amrita: A Sanctuary For Yoga (now called the Daya Foundation) in Portland.
Alice is once again placing well in her age group in local road and trail races. She and her family live in Northwest Portland near the trails of Forest Park. Alice's passion is helping others develop improved alignment, strength, flexibility, body awareness, and concentration to become more efficient, more resilient, and less injury-prone runners and walkers.
